Get To Know Me!

Hiya! Welcome one and all, to my tiny cozy corner of the world wide web. For my first “official” post, I thought I’d do a little “get to know me” fact.. Thingy. 
Some of you might not be interested in these at all, but I personally LOVE these lists people make with facts about themselves. I googled around and found some fun questions here and there, both bookish and non-bookish. If you don’t know me from my instagram “thebookranter”, then hello! I’m Emilie. I have a large instagram following based on books. Yep, books. But without any further ado, let’s get started!

 

1. Do you use sarcasm a lot?
   Noooo, not at all.. I’m probably the most sarcastic human you will ever encounter. It’s bad, I know. 
2. What’s the first thing you notice about people?
   Their eyes, I think. Both the color and if they have kind eyes. Also shoes. I tend to stare at shoes a lot, because I suck at making eye contact. Whoops. 
3. What is your eye color?
   A lovely, warm chocolate brown. It’s one of the few things I like about myself.
   .. Great, now I want chocolate.  
4. Scary movie or happy endings?
   I’m a sucker for cheesy, happy endings! Disney endings are the bestest 💛
5. Favorite smells?
   Oooh I like this question. The smell of fog on cold mornings, crisp autumn air, that special smell wet pavement has right after a summer shower, cookies baking in the oven, and (even though I’m a vegetarian, I’ll probably never get over it) the smell of the traditional Danish roasted duck my grandma makes on Christmas eve. Brings back so many childhood memories. 🎄
6. What’s the furthest you’ve ever been from home?
   Probably Crete! A family vacation when I was 5 or 6. I don’t get to travel (very far) that often, unfortunately.
   
7. Where were you born?
   I was born in a city called Svendborg, on Fyn, Denmark. I’m a Fynbo! 🇩🇰
8. What are your hobbies?
   Reading, photography, decorating my room with bits and bobs, more reading, walking in the beautiful nature surrounding my house, gaming, hoarding books, binge-watching TV-series, and more reading. 
9. Do you have any pets?
   I have a dog named Milka (after the chocolate brand) and a cat named Gaia. Both weirdly unintelligent..
10. Do you have any siblings?
    I’m an only child, but I have three half-brothers on my dad’s side as well as a bonus sister and brother from my stepdad. A little complicated, I know. 
11. Do you prefer to read one book at a time, or several at once?
    Well.. I’d like to say I’m organized and only read one, but the truth is, my reading schedule is quite weird sometimes. At the moment, I jump from book to book because nothing catches my interest. So it varies. Sometimes I’m engulfed in just one, sometimes I’m in the middle of 4 at once. 
12. What do you want to be when you grow up?
    I would love to work at a publishing company and/or with social media someday.
13. Who was your first best friend?
    There were two actually, as they were twins. My best friends since 4th grade. We don’t talk anymore, unfortunately. But they love books and bad humor as much as I do! Yay!
14. How tall are you?
    HAH, I’m a giant. 176 cm/5’9 ft. Wah wah.
    
15. Favorite genre?
    Fantasyyy. Give me pretty much anything fantasy themed and I’ll read it. It’s my escape from reality.
16. How many countries have you visited?
    Denmark (duh), Sweden, Norway, Germany, Belgium, Turkey, Greece. I have a bunch more I’d still like to visit! 
17. What are some of your favorite books?
    See, this is a question I absolutely hate and love. That’s like asking parents who their favorite child is. And I’m SUCH an indecisive person. Here are a few of my favorites:
    Harry Potter by JK Rowling, duhh (all of them, but especially the first three). 😉
    Letters To A Young Poet by Rainer Marie Rilke
    All The Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr
    The Time Travelers by Linda Buckley-Archer
    Daughter Of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor
    Aaand I’m currently reading The Book Thief by Markus Zusak which I think might become a new favorite.. 
18. What was your favorite/worst subject in High School?
    My favorite subject was English (because that was one of the few I didn’t suck at, haha) and worst was math. Screw you math. Thanks for making me feel like crap the past 10 years! NEVER AGAIN, WEEEE.
19. What is your Favorite drink? Animal? Perfume?
    Drink: hot delicious tea. Animal: fox. I have a weird thing with foxes, I actually might call it obsession instead of favorite. Perfume: the Caraval perfume BehindThePages! It smells amazing. If you’ve ever wondered what I smell like, that’s it! Lol. 
20. What Sports do you play/Have you played?
    I used to ride horses when I was younger. I’ve owned quite a few too! I also used to swim and do archery. Still really wanna get back into archery, it’s so fun. Name’s Hood. Robinilie Hood. 
21. Who are some of your favorite YouTubers?
    PeruseProject, Harmony Nice, simply_kenna, gracewithabookinherface, Claire Wineland, Jenna Marbles, doddleoddle, and MANY more who I of course can’t remember right now. But those are some of my favorite peeps. I might do a whole post about YouTubers I recommend someday!
    
22. Favorite memory from childhood?
    Driving around Fyn with my mom, her showing me all the beautiful tiny villages, old houses. Apple picking in my grandparent’s garden, finding worms for their goose Julius and their chickens. 
23. How would you describe your fashion sense?
    Very cozy, warm and big. I love oversized things, especially sweaters. Fall colors. All the fall themed things. 🍂
24. What phone do you have? (iOS v Android?)
    I have an iPhone 6S.
25. Tell us one of your bad habits!
    I swear. A LOT.
